Apply for Support

Dignified support for medical trainees facing financial hardship.

If financial circumstances threaten to interrupt your training, we want to hear from you. Every application is handled with confidentiality and care.

Who is eligible

The basics.

  • Enrolled in an accredited MD, DO, or ACGME-accredited residency program in the U.S.
  • Experiencing financial hardship that may affect continuity of training.
  • Able to document need (tuition, emergency expenses, cost-of-living gap, family circumstances).
  • Muslim students of any background are prioritized; exceptions considered case-by-case.
  • U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and eligible visa-holders may apply.

If you're unsure whether you qualify — apply anyway. We'd rather review and decline than have you self-eliminate.

We're not yet accepting applications.

MedWaqf, Inc. is in its founding stage. We are actively working to obtain initial funding and finalize our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt approval. The application portal will open as soon as the endowment is funded to a level that allows responsible, sustained support to trainees.

If you are aware of donors or partners who may want to help us reach this milestone sooner, please direct them to our contribution page or have them reach out to info@medwaqf.org.

Types of Support

Qard hasan, hardship relief, or need-based aid.

Most assistance is structured as a qard hasan — an interest-free loan that returns to the fund upon repayment, so that future trainees can benefit. In cases of acute hardship, support may be provided as non-repayable aid. The committee works with you to determine the appropriate structure.
